Chickasaw elder Thelma Chincie Ross was a World War II Code Talker Administrator. During the First and Second World War, the Navajo Indians did not have a written language, and were therefore able to converse without anyone being able to understand what they said. It is believed by many that these "Codetalkers" were one of the most important elements that contributed to the victory the United States had in both wars.
