April is National Stress Awareness Month, a great time to learn about the resources that the Chickasaw Nation offers to help you live a happy, purposeful life. The Psychosocial Unit offers access to trained psychologists, qualified to assist with both short-term and long-term challenges. The program's comprehensive style of care extends to developing support networks to aid in patient recovery. The Medical Family Therapy program allows families to consult with therapists to complement their medical care and deal with such concerns as stress, anxiety, depression and relationship problems. This program operates through the Chickasaw Nation Medical Center in Ada and is also available at facilities in Ardmore, Tishomingo and Purcell. The Strong Family Development Office assists families with marital problems, drug and alcohol addiction, challenges facing blended families and a host of other concerns.
