The Chickasaw Nation provides senior citizens with access to healthy food through the Seniors Farmers' Market and Winter Fruit and Vegetable Program. As a federal grant program, the Senior Farmers' Market and Nutrition program issues checks to eligible American Indians that can be used for the purchase of healthy fresh fruits and vegetables from authorized farmers’ markets and farm stands throughout the Chickasaw Nation from June to October. But even after farmer’s markets close for winter, the Chickasaw Nation continues to provide eligible elders with food packages to ensure access to healthy groceries year-round. From November through March, the Chickasaw Nation Winter Fruit and Vegetable Program is committed to providing healthy fruits and vegetables to our Chickasaw seniors between growing seasons. These may be picked up from any one of our four nutrition centers located in Ada, Ardmore, Duncan and Purcell.
