When Chickasaw citizen Sophia Wells sings, she reaches deep inside her heart to share her distinctly soulful sound with the world. Sophia began singing at the age of seven and has been training, developing and training her voice ever since. Originally from Missouri, Sophia moved to Oklahoma City to attend the University of Central Oklahoma's Academy of Contemporary Music, where she studied voice performance and music business. "I knew that I always wanted to eventually try to make it out to the west coast," she says. Now living Los Angeles, Sophia has been playing live shows and released an EP that she wrote with some of her closest friends while she was still living in Oklahoma. The 25-year-old singer and songwriter believes that there's always something new to learn along her musical journey, which has taught her to blend patience with determination. "There's always going to be someone working harder or doing things better than you and rather than being discouraged, I think I've realized you just have to take that as an opportunity to learn and study what they're doing and how can I apply this to my life." Sophia says she's doing more than just pursuing a singing career. To her, it's a calling. "I hope that people feel passion for me when I'm singing and that it inspires them to do what they're supposed to do, even if it's not music."
