Located in Tishomingo, Okla., the original Chickasaw Capitol building was built in the latter half of the 19th century and served as the tribal headquarters until 1906. It was sold in 1910, but in 1992, it was purchased by Governor Anoatubby and a lengthy period of renovation began. Now the building serves as both a museum and a time capsule, housing important tribal documents and giving visitors a glimpse into tribal life before statehood.
