Chickasaw Nation News

Brad Clonch and Quin Tran begin this episode of CNTV News with the anniversary of a special initiative – a special ceremony was held at the Chickasaw Nation Medical Center to mark the 20th year of the Indian Health Service Health Compact. Because of the health compact, today the Nation is able to offer a wide range of services to fit the needs of its citizens and of other native people. Next, we travel to the Chickasaw Cultural Center in Sulphur for what was the second annual Homeschool Day – children and their families learned about Chickasaw culture through hands-on activities and by exploring the many exhibits. We also get an inside look at "Te Ata," the Chickasaw Nation-produced movie about the famous Chickasaw storyteller and actress who traveled the world during the early 20th century, performing for kings, queens and presidents. Filming on "Te Ata" just wrapped – stay tuned to CNTV News in the next couple of months for more inside looks. Finally, we end with the beautiful music of the newly-formed Chickasaw Nation Employees Choir – these individuals get together during their lunch hour to enjoy camaraderie and to share their love of singing.
