Chickasaw Nation News

Special guest host Joel Barrick joins Quin Tran in this July 1 episode of CNTV News. We begin in Norman, Oklahoma, to tour the brand new Sovereign Medical Clinic – this clinic is the second Sovereign location and serves Chickasaw citizens, non-native employees and their dependents, as well as area residents. Several other special facility openings occurred this month; ground was broken on the Ardmore Early Childhood Center, and there was a ribbon cutting ceremony for the newly renovated gymnasium at Tribal Headquarters. Next, we travel to Shawnee for the Jim Thorpe Native American Games, where 50 Chickasaw youth represented the Nation in the sports of golf, tennis and martial arts. Summer is a popular season for athletics in the Nation – youth participated in golf camps at WinStar World Casino in Thackerville, and preschoolers took part in a series of classes offered by the Oklahoma City Ballet at the Chickasaw Nation Child Care Center in Ada. This episode of CNTV News ends with a patriotic song from the Chickasaw Children's Choir in honor of Independence Day.
