Chickasaw Nation News

Brad and Quin begin this episode of CNTV News at OKANA Resort & Indoor Waterpark. This 11-story resort features luxurious amenities, a full-service spa, over a dozen restaurants and plenty of entertainment for the whole family. Whether it's laser tag, arcade games or the 100,000-square-foot indoor waterpark, visitors from all over the region are sure to have an unforgettable experience. Visit OkanaResort.com to plan your visit.

OKANA is just one of many exciting destinations located in Oklahoma City's Horizons District. The First Americans Museum explores the stories of Oklahoma's 39 tribes, while Exhibit C features original works of art created exclusively by First Americans.

Adorning Exhibit C's entrance is a 78-panel piece of copper art created by Chickasaw artist Addison Karl. Addison speaks with Quin about his inspirations for his array of work, from sculptures and painting to public art and his book, Kulli. When asked about how his artistic career first began, Addison says, "It's just kind of naturally ingrained in your identity or ideology ... It's always been there." His early influences include his family, cultural connection and art teachers that encouraged him to pursue his creativity. Addison's work can be found at Exhibit C, or you can visit AddisonKarl.com to explore his portfolio.

The Artesian Arts Festival welcomes thousands of visitors to Sulphur, OK every year, celebrating First American art, artists and culture. Head to ArtesianArtsFestival.com to learn more about this annual event.

To close the episode, Chickasaw classical music composer Jerod Tate prepares to debut his new composition, American Indian Symphony. Performed by the Oklahoma City Philharmonic, Tate's piece brings the rhythmic and melodic traditions of First American music to the Civic Center Music Hall. Learn more at OKCphil.org.
