Chickasaw Nation News

To begin this episode of CNTV News, Brad and Quin connect with Whitney Anderson. Whitney is the 2024 Dynamic Chickasaw Woman of the Year and executive director of The Dragonfly Home, an organization that provides services and support for victim-survivors of human trafficking. "We see people who have survived the worst, but we couldn't be in this work for very long if we didn't also see miracles happening every single day," says Whitney. The Dragonfly Home connects those in need with housing assistance, vocational training, therapeutic services and much more, free of charge. "My goal in life is to make a meaningful impact in the world, to break generational trauma, to help hurting people." To learn more about The Dragonfly Home, visit TheDragonflyHome.org.

The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI) honors Chickasaw Nation Emergency Management (CNEM) with the Red Feather Award for their assistance in an investigation. CNEM's work involved drones, manpower across three counties and specially trained dogs that led to a successful investigation and prosecution of the case.

Award-winning Chickasaw playwright Laura Shamas was set to debut her play, "Four Women in Red," at The Victory Theatre Center in Burbank, California. However, due to the wildfires throughout the Los Angeles area, the play has been postponed. "Four Women in Red" is a story about resilience as it follows four indigenous women in their search for missing loved ones. In a future episode, Brad and Quin will discuss Laura's work and how her Chickasaw identity has inspired her.
