Chickasaw Nation News

To begin this episode of CNTV News, Brad and Quin meet Andi Parnacher, the first female First American certified coffee roaster. The Chickasaw student received a scholarship to Coffee Project New York, learning about the mechanics of the roasting machine and how a variety of factors will affect a roast. After passing an exam, Andi gained certification recognized by the Specialty Coffee Association. Today, she is the head roaster at Not Your Average Joe, a coffee shop with locations throughout Oklahoma. Andi is not only dedicated to creating a good cup of coffee, but she's also committed to Not Your Average Joe's mission of offering work opportunities to people with intellectual, developmental and physical disabilities. November is Military Family Appreciation Month! Located in Ada, OK, the Chickasaw Veterans Lodge gives tribal veterans the opportunity to gather together for fellowship and to receive information about veteran services. The lodge welcomes visitors year-round.

The Chickasaw Nation hosts the annual First American humanities forum, Lowak Sho'li. This event is open to the public and encourages First American youth and college students to explore careers in the arts and humanities. For more information, visit Chickasaw.net/Lowak or call (580) 272-9236.
