Chickasaw Nation News

Brad and Quin begin this episode of CNTV News in downtown Sulphur, Oklahoma. On April 27, 2024, devastating tornadoes ripped through Sulphur and Marietta, leaving destruction in their wake. Despite the damage sustained by the Mahota Textiles building, business manager Bethany McCord shares how the textile company is continuing to find success. "Our roof was ripped off, we had a back garage door that was completely pushed in, but our boxes [in the storage room] were just perfectly on the shelves," Bethany recalls. "The tornado didn't stop us. We're still moving forward with plans." Those plans include moving to a temporary location nearby and launching the Legacy Collection, which highlights family history and Chickasaw stories. "We just kept moving forward and that's sort of the story of the designs. You had Chickasaw women who were removed from their homelands to a new place which, interestingly enough, is what we're doing now." To browse the new collection and support Mahota Textiles, head to MahotaTextiles.com.
