Chickasaw Nation News

In this episode of CNTV News, the ribbon is cut on the brand-new Lakecrest Casino and Hotel in Ardmore, bringing much more than a lavish getaway destination to the area. Located just minutes from Lake Murray, this 5-story property features 89 hotel rooms, restaurants, conference spaces and all the amenities of a full-service resort experience. With capacity to employ 400 people, Lakecrest's 5-year economic impact for the area is estimated at more than $300 million. Learn more at lakecrestcasino.com.

Dynamic Women of the Chickasaw Nation gathered in conference at WinStar World Casino & Resort for two full days of empowering change. In addition to women-led breakout sessions and panel discussions, NBC's "The Voice" contestant and Chickasaw citizen Jordan Rainer took the stage for a special performance. The 2024 Chickasaw Nation Dynamic Woman of the Year award was presented to Whitney Anderson, Co-Founder and Executive Director of The Dragonfly Home, Oklahoma's first state-certified crisis center for victims of human trafficking.

Plus, you'll meet Maria Martinez, an architectural engineering student at the University of Oklahoma and winner of the Butterfly Art Contest. Inspired by traditional Chickasaw art, Maria’s artwork features symbols of transformation and growth that she hopes will inspire others to be proud to be Chickasaw and proud to be a woman. Submissions for the annual art contest will open again this fall. Female Chickasaw artists ages 14-18 are invited to apply.
