Chickasaw Nation News

Ring in the new year with CNTV News. Brad and Quin begin the episode with the story of Laney Daniels, a Chickasaw youth who knows her life is a miracle. Born with congenital diaphragmatic hernia, Laney was given a fifty percent chance of making it to term, but she arrived and surpassed the doctors' expectations. Laney's mother, Carrie Savage says that they were able to overcome her daughter's health challenges with the strength inside of them passed down from the spirit of their Chickasaw ancestors.

January is National Blood Donor Month. Over recent months, the Chickasaw Nation has been participating in a tribal blood donor challenge. Commissioner of Health Policy for the Chickasaw Nation Dr. Judy Goforth Parker tells CNTV News why donating blood is truly the gift of life. To learn more about how you can donate blood, please call the Oklahoma Blood Institute at (877) 340-8777 or visit www.obi.org.

We appreciate pharmacists every day of the year, but January 12 is National Pharmacists Day, which is a time to recognize the profession's significant impact on healthcare.

The Anoli Creative Writing Contest recognizes the talents of Chickasaw adults and youth who are passionate about writing. This year, Chickasaw sisters and high school students Nalin and Quinn Saur won first place for their pieces. The sisters speak with CNTV News about their award-winning short story and poem, as well as their creative inspiration.
