Stomp Dance Gorget

Kristen Dorsey

Kristen Dorsey’s “Stomp Dance” gorget traces a path through space and time, starting at the Mississippian mounds and ultimately leading into the modern era, combining materials utilized in Chickasaw art at all points in between. Inspired by the collars that Chickasaw women wore during stomp dances, the piece features a modern interpretation of the traditional crescent shape.
