Removal Landmarks in Little Rock

Dr. Daniel Littlefield

Author Dr. Littlefield describes two historic points of interest along the Chickasaw removal route. Ferry Street represents the original road west from Memphis; the ferry site has left a visible depression in the bank. About a quarter mile further west was an earlier ferry (another visible depression) where the road to Fort Smith and Fort Coffee departed Little Rock. Today the area is protected from development by a riverfront park area.
