Margaret Roach WheelerChickasaw weaver and clothing designer Margaret Roach Wheeler became interested in Native American art at a young age, as she watched WPA workers paint murals on the walls of Indian schools and government buildings. Though she took inspiration from plains tribes early in her career, coming back to Chickasaw homelands has had a profound impact on her decision to begin creating pieces centered around her own people.
