Mississippi Homelands: Scenic Tour

Experience Chickasaw History and Culture

The Chickasaw legacy in Mississippi is strong, seen in many place names that reflect the people who, for centuries, inhabited these rivers and woodlands. Because of their removal to Indian Territory in the 1830s, they left prosperous homes, plantations, hunting grounds and visitor-oriented commerce behind. Today, many Chickasaws make the pilgrimage from Oklahoma to their ancestral homelands here, where many feel the presence of their ancestors.
