Artifacts from Moundville Site Excavations

Experience Chickasaw History and Culture

Archaeologists at most mound sites try to excavate only 5-10% of the site to avoid destroying it. The Moundville Museum displays the artifacts found at two excavated mounds in the surrounding archaeological park, one of which remains intact. The beauty lies in seeing the artifacts, skillfully displayed, at the site where they were found.
